The rest is a mix of other metals that makes the gold strong enough to wear every day. All TOV jewellery is solid 14k or 18k gold, never plated, and comes with a digital certificate of authenticity.

18k gold contains more pure gold: 75% (hallmark 750) against 58.5% for 14k (hallmark 585). That gives 18k a deeper, warmer yellow and a higher price. 14k is slightly harder, so it handles daily knocks and scratches a little better, which suits pieces you wear every day. Both are solid, real gold; choose on colour, budget and how you wear it.

The number shows how many parts per 1,000 are pure gold. 585 means 58.5% gold, which is 14 karat; 750 means 75% gold, which is 18 karat. Every TOV piece carries this hallmark together with the TOV signature, and your digital certificate of authenticity confirms the gold standard of what you bought.

Solid gold means the jewellery itself is made of gold, with no other metal under the surface. Solid 14k gold does not rust, peel or wear through the way plated jewellery does. Because it is an alloy, it can look slightly duller over time through skin acidity, sweat, perfume, lotion or soap. That is normal and easy to fix: rinse it in lukewarm water with a drop of mild soap and dry it, or polish it with a gold polishing cloth.

Gorgeous, beautiful, and subtle

This is such a beautiful earring for my second piercing. It fits snugly around my earlobe, but it’s definitely not too tight. Even though the beads don’t go all the way through, you can’t see that at all from the front. You don’t even notice it while you’re sleeping. I’m so incredibly happy with it.
